it is the time that stem cell will be treated in the USA and not out of the USA

@hillas00 So if a paraplegic told you that he can be cured. But he needed you to sacrifice your children to have it done. Would you not give the lives of your children for him? Idiot…

  9. Comments  oran6es   |  Monday, 02 August 2010 at 3:52 pm

@hillas00 Of course I’d want to walk. So far, adult stem cells have shown the most promise in treating the spine injured patient……….and news flash, keep the embryo whole, implant it into a uterus, it’ll be walking within 2 years.

I’m no idiot. I’m a physician who aced embryology and who is vehemently against the abuse of any living humans.

@oran6es So if you broke your back tomorrow and where paralysed from the neck/waste down would you not want to walk again?

    Idiot…

@khead13 No one is against the use of adult stem cells or umbilical cells. Living human embryos, however, are not fodder for corporations conversion of humans into commodities.

    “A lie cannot live.”
    Martin Luther King, Jr.
Dr. King was a great man and a Baptist minister and a man of principle. 94% of Baptist ministers are against human embryonic stem cell research. This research is going nowhere and is a waste of very valuable research dollars. I agree with Dr. King.

Unethical, unrealistic, a true waste of tax dollars, which takes away from the sick who need help now, and which takes funding away from more realistic more promising research.

@davemenabat Of course he’s not. He’s a man of reason, this is obvious.

Thank you Obama! Thank you for choosing science and reason over fundamentalist ideology!

the solution is supporting researches on ADULT STEM CELLS not EMBRYONIC STEM CELLS!! this solves many ethical problems…

He referred to himself as “a person of faith”. I severely doubt he was sincere in saying this. My guess is that he’s a non-believer but can never fully admit it. If he had, he would never been elected to office in the United States.

@b3th1zh4wt Perhaps biology eludes you, but every cell IS life. So what’s your point? Confirming a biological fact that’s been established for 100+ years?

  22. Comments  b3th1zh4wt   |  Monday, 02 August 2010 at 9:35 pm

Every cell has a potential life. Frozen embryos that are not wanted by the original parents can be adopted through the Snowflake program.

Better to throw them out than to grow baby parts, right?

They are forced to survive and develop in the corporate lab, not as a whole, but as pieces of a whole.

Corporations should not be allowed to control the entire body and substance of a developing human well into the infant cell stage.

The embryos they use for stem cell research don’t have brains, heads, limbs, organs, or anything resembling a human being. They are closer to ants than they are to us.

Lots of cartoons about this depict babies in heaven, but we’re not killing babies, we’re using CELLS.

Besides, it’s not like we’d be saving them by not doing the research. The cells we would be using are the ones that are being frozen or thrown out. They never survive and grow into human beings anyway.

hm, Neurology, volume 46, is a good start. Any embryology textbook is another.
