Using stem cells to treat EB

EB – Epidermolysis Bullosa is a rare genetic condition casing a person skin to be very delicate. where even a simple seem can cause blistering to occur. Those affected must have their entire body continuously wrapped in bandages. But researchers at the University of Minnesota have discovered a cure. Clinical Trials in Pulmonary Hypertension | Part 1 of 5

Duncan Stewart MD Biotechnology Lecture Series 2009 Duncan Stewart MD, a clinical trial expert and a clinical trial patient Stem cell research offers the hope to cure or alleviate many of today’s most devastating diseases. However the path to a cure involves many steps, one of which is the completion of clinical trials. Join us for a panel discussion focusing on stem cell clinical trials and considerations doctors and patients must keep in mind. Dr Duncan Stewart, a clinician scientist and scientific director of the Ottawa Health Research Institute, will present his research on Pulmonary Hypertension, and share the results of a clinical trial for Pulmonary Hypertension using genetically modified autologous stem cells. Dr Stewart’s presentation will be complemented by the participation of a clinical trial specialist who will tell us more about patient consideration for clinical trial participation, and a patient with Pulmonary Hypertension who will give us the patient’s perspective on being involved in a clinical trial. www.sciencetech.technomuses.ca Recorded during the Biotechnology Lecture Series 2009 at the Canada Science and Technology Museum
